It’s ok if people think your idea is crazy

Here’s a quote from Reed Hastings, founder of Netflix.

Most entrepreneurial ideas will sound crazy, stupid and uneconomic, and then they’ll turn out to be right.

I have to admit when I heard that Netflix was founded based on customers mailing DVDs back and forth I did think it was a stupid idea. Then I tried it and found it was great. Of course, today, streaming is even better.

So don’t be afraid if people tell you your idea is crazy or even that you are crazy. People don’t like change and new ideas represent change – so they will be resisted. As an entrepreneur you are going to have to inspire and implement change: you are a change agent.
